Over a Century of Service in Baker County
Empowering women, enhancing lives, and contributing to our community since 1919.

Woman's Club of Macclenny
President 1963 - 1970
The GFWC Woman’s Club of Macclenny is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to community improvement. While our hearts belong right here in Macclenny, we are also proud members of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC)—one of the world’s oldest and largest nonpartisan women’s volunteer service organizations.
For over 100 years, our club has united women of all ages, backgrounds, and talents to make a tangible, lasting impact on our neighbors, schools, and local landscape.
Our story began in 1919 as the "Mother’s Club" before formally federating in 1920. In those early days, dues were just $1.00 a year, and meetings moved between local homes and schools. Our historic downtown clubhouse home was built between late 1929 and early 1930 on a centrally located lot generously donated by then-Sheriff Joe Jones and his wife, Alma.

For over a century, our members have shaped the local community. Our legacy includes funding Baker County's very first public library, spearheading early downtown cleanup drives, paving local roads, and providing critical support during wartime. Today, we proudly continue that tradition through student scholarships, local youth mentorship, and regular community care initiatives.
Community Impact Highlights & Values
01
A Century of Civic Impact
Since 1919, our club has championed local progress—from launching Macclenny’s first public library to supporting road paving and streetlights. We continue to address the evolving needs of our town through hands-on service and advocacy.

Historic Clubhouse, Living Legacy
Built in 1929, our clubhouse is more than a building—it’s a gathering place where tradition and service meet. From fundraising events to community meetings, it remains a vital part of our mission.

Women Serving with Purpose
As part of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, we unite women from all walks of life to uplift our community. Our projects span health, education, veterans, and family services—each one rooted in compassion and action.
